Biography

Cao Maosen is a full professor at College of Mechanics and Engineering Science, Hohai University. He is an academician of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts, a Marie Curie Fellow of the European Union, and a member of Jiangsu Province's "333 High-level Talents Cultivation Project" (second tier). He is also a recipient of the National Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award. He serves as the Director of the China-Central and Eastern Europe International Joint Research Base for Water-related Infrastructure Safety and Health under the Ministry of Science and Technology, Director of the Jiangsu "Belt and Road" Foreign Expert Studio, Director of the Jiangsu Collaborative Innovation Center for Major Infrastructure Safety Assurance, and Director of the Institute of Dynamics and Control at Hohai University. He has long been dedicated to research on solving structural damage and safety issues through the integration of mechanics and mathematics. He has presided over more than 30 national and international cooperation projects, including 4 projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China. He has achieved a series of research results in the areas of damage mechanisms and health diagnosis theories and algorithms for hydraulic and civil structures: He has published 182 SCI papers with a total impact factor exceeding 850, which have been cited more than 5,000 times on Google Scholar and have an H-index of 39. He has been included in Stanford University's list of the world's top 2% scientists. He holds 47 domestic and international patents, including 2 UK patents. He has won the Second Prize of the Natural Science Award of the Ministry of Education in 2014, 2016, and 2020 (first author), the first prize of the EU-China Dragon STAR Award for Scientific and Technological Innovation (first author), the Jiangsu Friendship Award (leader of the Chinese team), the Anhui International Science and Technology Cooperation Award, and the International Science and Technology Cooperation Award of the Chinese Instrumentation Society. He has mentored an innovative team of 14 doctoral, master's, and undergraduate students from 8 countries along the Belt and Road Initiative, which won the national silver award at the 14th Challenge Cup "Belt and Road" International Invitational Competition for National College Students. He concurrently serves as the Vice Chairman of the China Equipment Structural Health Monitoring and Early Warning Professional Committee, Editor-in-Chief of the international journal Structural Durability and Health Monitoring, and an editorial board member of six international journals. He has served as Vice Chairman and Co-Chairman of the 4th and 5th International Conference on Structural Health Monitoring and Integrity Management. In the past decade, he has led his team in conducting important and sustainable multilateral scientific and technological cooperation with research institutions in 13 European countries, relying on more than 20 international cooperation projects. The cooperation achievements have been reported by national media such as CCTV's News Studio, Science and Technology Daily, China Science and Technology Network, and Xinhua News Agency, making outstanding contributions to China-Europe scientific and technological cooperation and exchanges.
